Welcome to MALTA

Information about MALTA This archipelago sits in beautiful clear blue waters between Sicily and Tunisia, and boasts one of the Mediterranean"s most unspoilt coastlines. The Maltese islands have been described as one big open-air museum, and the countryside is littered with the oldest known human structures in the world. Everybody, from the Phoenicians to Napoleon, has left their mark on the island but perhaps the strangest sight is that of the bright red telephone and letterboxes familiar to Britain. These are an indication of the strong relationship between these two countries. Indeed the British king, George VI, awarded the population of the country the George Cross for the bravery they showed during WWII. This cross is now a feature of the flag of Malta. The islanders are bilingual, speaking both English and Maltese, and this has allowed it to develop strong trade links with Britain and Europe. Malta is a full member of the EU.
